Holding Space and The Most Possible Kind
In May 2022 I had the privilege to show my work among works of eight artists and mothers in two exhibition about motherhood.
CRITICAL MASS 2021 TOP 200 finalist!
I’m thrilled to be part of Photolucida Critical Mass 2021 top 200 finalists.
It’s an enormous recognition and exposure, but do you know what made me even more excited? I see many other women, men, and LGBTQ+ photographers from different walks of life exploring vulnerability, family issues, and self-awareness, redefining the social norms in so many poetic ways. So I feel immensely honored to have Watermelons Are Not Strawberries alongside high-caliber, intriguing, and sensitive photographs.

Update on the photobook: printing a set of reference to send to press.
I really enjoy processing my images in photoshop and then print them. It's a contemplative time in my creative process where I totally immerse myself in my photos. I feel that my work is only completed when I hold my photographs in my hands.
To make sure the photographs in the photobook look as close as the fine art prints I usually make, I printed a set of references to send to the printer so they can use it as guidance for the shades of grays.
Yoffy Press and I are working hard to produce Watermelons Are Not Strawberries photobook with the highest-level quality!!

Anthropology of Motherhood: Culture of Care

The Anthropology of Motherhood: Culture of Care exhibition features works of art that engage in the complex visual, material, emotional, corporeal, and lived experiences of motherhood, caregiving, parenting, nurturing, and maternal labor. AOM: Culture of Care presents a slate of artists that embrace the labor of care as “right and rewarding work.” Through video, sculpture, painting, and photography, the works presented address maternal identities with birth as a metaphor for regeneration, creation and renewal.

WATERMELONS are not STRAWBERRIES crowdfunding campaign was a success!
In May 2021, I ran a crowdfunding campaign via Kickstarter to raise money to publish WATERMELONS are not STRAWBERRIES photobook. In one month, I not only raised the total amount but received overwhelming support to publish my story.
Making these photographs was a very lonely process, a moment of deep reflection. Little did I know that the photographs I made to relieve my pain would inspire others to confront their own challenges.
This photobook will be born with a community and family for itself. What else could I wish for this body of work?

Transforme Seu Olhar (To See Beyond)
Transforme Seu Olhar (To See Beyond) is a live and online experience that uses emotional intelligence and photography principles to broaden the participant's creative repertoire.
Marô Camargo and I launched the program in May 2020 for a Brazilian audience to help them cope with their feeling during the Covid-19 pandemic. The first experience was a success: 26 Brazilians participants living in different parts of the globe, sharing their feelings and photographs. Since then, It has been a joy to share our content and my love for photography with with different groups that always help me learn more about myself.
In 2021, we partnered up with SESC, a non-profit Brazilian private institution that makes available Education, Health, Culture and Recreational programs, to expand the program throughout Brazil.
For 2022, we are going bigger! More news coming soon!
Glass, Meet the Future Film Festival
The GMTF 2021 Festival launches 20.03.21 and continues until 04.04.21 All the screenings are free by visiting the North Lands Creative website HERE.
I’m thrilled to announce that Seeking Nowhere short film will be part of the Meet The Future 2021 film festival!!
Glass, Meet the Future Film Festival is dedicated to presenting a selection of new films pivoting around the medium of glass. The festival showcases a cross-section of international diverse and engaging series of short films curated and directed by female-identified and non-binary filmmakers using glass as the predominant feature.
The project is funded as part of the UK in Japan 2019-20 bilateral campaign, a partnership between British Council Scotland and Creative Scotland. Supported by Toyama Institute of Glass Art with Toyama Glass Art Museum and the Museum of Arts and Design New York.

2020 Paraty em Foco International Photo Festival
Watermelons Are Not Strawberries won third at the 2020 Paraty em Foco International Photo Festival!
The festival received more than 500 submissions and It was a honor to be awarded by the jurors’ festival among many talent photographs. Juror: Sergio Branco, André Teixeira, Rubens Fernandes Junior, Elza Lima, Vilma Slomp, Wania Corredo e Marcio Scavone.
Even though I was not able to attend the festival in person, I was thrilled to share my work with my fellow Brazilians in one of the most charming historic cost towns in Brazil Paraty.

“The United” examines the incredibly complicated topic of immigration in a time when immigration systems are in crisis — affecting many of us closely, as members of diverse communities, as descendants of immigrants, or as immigrants ourselves. The exhibition with artwork from 12 artists from Belgium, Northern Ireland, Russia and the US explores the possibilities for proactive engagement with immigration issues, reconfiguring the status and function of art from passivity to active agency.

Best experience ever!
From Sep.2019 to Sep.2020, I had the opportunity to learn about glassmaking at Pittsburgh Glass Center residency program. PGC gave me the space and support to lear a new a craft and to find new ways for me to explore artist practice. But the most amazing part was to get to know PGC’s team. A group of artists and professionals that were so patient and open to share their knowledge with me. Definitely an experience to be remember forever. (I wish I had photos of everyone!).

The Irene Carlson Gallery of Photography welcomes guest photographers Sandra Bacchi and Anna Grevenitis, two mothers of children with chronic illness who have graciously shared insights into their lives through the power of photography. This unique collaboration between healthcare and photography brings to light the beauty of diversity in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Many people with chronic illness feel isolated, excluded, and marginalized by a society that does not accommodate us. Things such as eating at a restaurant, accessing a public space, and connecting with others, become relics of the past for those who live with chronic illness and disability. The world now finds itself in a situation not completely unlike that of living with chronic illness – alone, uncertain, and without the comforts and joys of life that were once taken for granted.

I made this video to share my story and creative process in this very personal work about finding myself through motherhood.

Since 2019, I have been developing work as an artist-in-residence at Pittsburgh Glass Center, mixing photography with glass, exploring the distortion and imperfect shapes of the glass, its translucent aspect, depth of field, and color tones. Just like I am drawn to the physicality of the way a photograph is created by a complex combination of convex and concave lenses, pieces made by glass are able to shift one’s perception, which can be considered distorted, an optical illusion, or even a new reality..
Here are some pictures of the work in progress I made before the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown! I hope soon enough I will be able to go back to the shop and finish this piece. This work will be part of “the united" exhibition. The show will address questions about immigration and my work will explore the sense of belonging
